What I learned when care was truly within reach

Dr. Rana Muhammad Adil Khan·Founder and Director

When my wife was pregnant, I had the opportunity to experience a healthcare system where compassionate, high-quality care was easily accessible. In American hospitals, supported by programs like MassHealth, every step—from regular checkups to advanced medical support—was organized, timely, and reassuring. That experience showed me how life-changing it is to feel truly supported during such a vulnerable time.

However, when I look at the situation in Pakistan, the reality is very different. For countless women, especially in rural areas, pregnancy is filled with uncertainty and fear. Many do not have access to even basic prenatal care, and essential services like ultrasounds or timely doctor consultations are often out of reach. The contrast is painful—while one system provides comfort and safety, the other leaves mothers at risk. The higher rates of complications and stillbirths in these communities are a reality we cannot ignore.

The Mothers' Hope exists to close that gap: dignified, timely maternal care for women who are too often left to face pregnancy alone— because no mother should have to choose between safety and access.

Why we started The Mothers' Hope

Shaheer Tariq·Director - Technology & Digital

During my wife's pregnancy, I personally witnessed the harsh realities of maternal healthcare in Pakistan. What should have been a routine checkup became a stressful experience when we arrived at a private hospital, only to find that the doctor was unavailable for an entire week. With no immediate option, we turned to a government hospital, hoping for better access. However, the situation there was equally challenging overcrowded waiting areas, long queues, and patients waiting for hours without knowing when their turn would come.

In such conditions, doctors are often overwhelmed, making it difficult to give each patient the attention they truly need. I saw how difficult it was, especially for families with limited access to care. Many go without basic services like ultrasounds, medications, or even regular checkups. In rural areas, the situation is even more concerning—people often avoid visiting doctors altogether and attempt normal deliveries, even when medical conditions clearly require a C-section. This puts both the mother's and baby's lives at serious risk.

Experiencing these challenges firsthand made me realize how urgent this issue is. That's why we decided to take action. Our mission is to support mothers who face limited access to proper maternal care by helping them reach doctor consultations, checkups, ultrasounds, and essential medicines— because every mother and every child deserves a safe and healthy journey.

Who We Are

Built on a Simple Belief

The Mothers' Hope (ماں کی امید) was born from a powerful belief: no mother should lose her life or her child simply because care is out of reach.

In Pakistan, thousands of mothers and babies die every year due to lack of access to basic prenatal care. Many families lack access to simple checkups, essential care, or emergency medical services during pregnancy.

The Mothers' Hope Foundation was established to bridge this gap through free medical camps, prenatal care, and ensuring every expectant mother receives the healthcare she deserves, even when services are hard to reach. Beyond maternal health, we work to build a better Pakistan through environmental initiatives, food distribution, and poverty alleviation.
